A Canadian artist, born in the Kawarthas of Ontario, Fran was raised surrounded by the richness and beauty of Canadian nature.
The vibrancy of the four seasons spin endless tapestries to delight the artist's eye, amazing scenes to behold and inspiration for much of Fran's work. Nature in its many forms may be found, uniquely explored in her art, through a variety of media and a number of genres.
Such memories of these uniquely Canadian surroundings (and a childhood shared with 5 siblings, exploring the wilds of the unspoiled countryside), have inspired Fran's work for many years.
Indeed, she has recalled that from an early age, precisely "from the age of eight ... I knew I wanted to be an artist!" Peppered in amongst these idyllic scenes, "many an interesting character" would serve - and continue to serve - as "inspiration for portraits and sketches", including her highly sought and collected series' of fashion illustrations. Fran is also renowned for her portrait work, and is very much in demand for commissioned work today.
Life itself, in all its forms, is what is behind Fran's unsurpassed artistry. Never limiting herself to a single genre, Fran loves to explore a variety of subject matter, technique and media, most recently showing a new collection of "abstract expressionist" pieces at the Burlington Art Gallery.
With a career that has spanned many years and many different areas - art, fashion, business, marketing and design - life has truly imitated art. But one constant has always been present - a boundless sense of creativity.
True to her childhood, Fran has always enjoyed an active imagination and can happily say she "has never been bored!". A lifelong artist, she continues to fill her days with sketching, painting and many gallery showings, quite frequently at the Burlington Art Gallery, where she is also a member of the BFFA (Burlington Fine Arts Association).
